NeuroKids Space is committed to being usable by every child and adult who wants to open the app. This page tells you what we’ve tested, what still isn’t perfect, and how to reach us.

Conformance target

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA across the parent, teacher, therapist and kid interfaces. The Kid interface additionally follows COGA-friendly guidance for cognitive accessibility (short sentences, big tap targets, no autoplaying media).

Keyboard & focus

Every interactive control is reachable via Tab and operable via Enter / Space.
Focus rings are visible at 3:1 contrast against every backdrop we ship.
Dialogs (SOS Calm, Meltdown Mode, Auth) trap focus and return it to the trigger on close.

Screen readers

Tested with:

NVDA 2024.4 on Firefox 128 (Windows 11)
VoiceOver on Safari 17 (macOS 14) and iOS 17
TalkBack on Chrome 127 (Android 14)

Decorative emoji are hidden with aria-hidden. The Counting round in the Pre-K hub announces the answer count separately from the visual row so a screen-reader user never has to parse the emoji cluster.

Colour, contrast & motion

Body text is ≥ 4.5:1 on every surface; large headings are ≥ 3:1.
Colour is never the sole signal — every red/green traffic light on the Support Needs strip is paired with a text label.
The app honours prefers-reduced-motion: bounce, celebration and page-transition animations collapse to a fade.
Dark mode is available system-wide via the toggle in the header.

Non-conformances we know about

The Whiteboard collaborative canvas is not screen-reader friendly today. It’s labelled as a visual-only surface with a text-based fallback (session transcripts).
Some third-party embedded videos may lack captions; we surface a “captions unavailable” badge when this is the case.
The Auth pages have a known contrast dip on the pink “Try free” hero CTA — being addressed in Q2 2026.

UK users: if you’re not happy with our response, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS). We’re a private provider so PSBAR 2018 doesn’t formally apply, but we hold ourselves to the same standard because schools using NeuroKids fall under it.
