SEND Code of Practice mapping

For SENCOs, head teachers and SEN governors · Last reviewed June 2026

This page maps each NeuroKids feature to a specific paragraph of the statutory SEND Code of Practice: 0 to 25 years   so school leaders can justify deployment under their existing SEND policy and graduated-approach framework. NeuroKids does not replace any statutory process — it provides the evidence base, parent engagement and SMART target generation that the Code expects.

§ 6 — Schools

6.44 — Graduated approach: Assess, Plan, Do, Review

Daily check-ins · Progress timeline · Weekly digest · EHCP review pack

Parents and SENCOs see live evidence at each cycle stage. Weekly digest replaces hand-written "Do" notes; review pack auto-builds at term-end.

§ 6 — Schools

6.66 — Information sharing with parents

SENCO Magic Link · Shareable progress card · Email digest

One-tap parent-to-SENCO link gives the school 30-day read access to the child's targets and engagement data without an account.

§ 6 — Schools

6.79 — Identifying and supporting children with SEN

Sensory profile · Predictive AI alerts · Meltdown patterns

AI flags emerging patterns (sleep deficit + sensory overload + meltdown cluster) before they escalate, supporting early identification.

§ 9 — Education, Health and Care needs assessments and plans

9.21 — Outcomes in the plan must be SMART

EHCP Toolkit · AI-generated SMART target suggestions

NeuroKids drafts Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound targets from the child's recent logs — SENCO/parent edit and approve.

§ 9 — EHCP plans

9.166 — Annual review with progress evidence

EHCP review pack · 12-week engagement charts

One-click generates a printable annual-review pack: target progress, AAC vocabulary growth, emotional regulation trend, attendance patterns.

§ 7 — Communication and Interaction

6.28 — Speech, language and communication needs

AAC board (OpenSymbols) · Pre-K phonics · Letter tracing

Visual symbol-based communication grid + structured early literacy. Logs every utterance for SaLT progress reports.

§ 7 — Cognition and Learning

6.30

Flashcards · Routine builder · Reward store

Adaptive flashcards adjust difficulty per kid. Visual schedules support working-memory difficulties.

§ 7 — SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health)

6.32

Emotion logger · Calm corner · SOS button · Wellbeing journal

Real-time emotion tracking; calm corner offers self-regulation exercises; SOS button alerts a designated trusted adult.

§ 7 — Sensory and/or Physical needs

§ 5 — Early years providers (0–5)

5.36 — Working with parents

Pre-K Mastery · Shared family journal · Sleep + diet log

EYFS-aligned phonics and number activities; carers and parents both log and view the same child record.

§ 8 — Preparing for adulthood

8.9 — From age 14, focus on outcomes for adulthood

Independence tracker · Self-care routines · Real-world skills challenges

Tracks skills like dressing, money handling, public transport — feeding directly into the Preparing for Adulthood EHCP outcome areas.

§ 10 — Children and young people in specific circumstances

Multi-carer family accounts · Audit log

Foster carers and Virtual School heads can share the same kid record; every access is audit-logged.
